The Members of the House of Representatives w>ll entertain the footballers at ' dinner to-night. Sir Wm. Fitzherbert, Speaker pf the Legislative Council, will preside, and it is understood that the Governor will be a guest. Going Home. The Northern members leave by the Hinemoa to-night. Accident. A child named White had the muscles and sinews of one leg torn away below the knee by getting the leg entangled in a trolly wheel while in motion. It is progressing favorably. Requisition. Westport, To-day. Mr Munro, the present member, is the only candidate yet announced for Buller, .but a requisition will be presented to Mr Eugene O'Connor, a former representative. Licensing. Oauabu, To-day, At the adjourned meeting of the Committee to-day a renewal of the North Town Belt Hotel was refused, and that of the Swan Hotel will not be renewed unless the owner gives a substantial guarantee that a new hotel will be commenced within six months. The Chairman suggested the guarantee should be half a year’s rent, L 225, to be lodged with the Mayor or Town Cxerk. The final decision was deferred until Friday. Election News. Dunedin, To-day. Mr J. B, Bradshaw is out for Dunedin Central.
