Captain Russell contests the Hawke’s Bay seat with Mr Sutton. Mr Tanner will fight Waipawa against Mr Smith. Mr Ormond is the only candidate yet 1 announced for Napier, but it is expected Mr Sheehan or Mr Buchanan will contest the seat with him. Mr J. Whitely King, journalist, contests New Plymouth against Mr Thomas Kelly. Mr Charles Johnston seeks re-election for Te Aro electorate. Mr Alfred Rhodes intends standing for Gladstone at the coming election. [by telegraph.] Christchurch, To-day. Mr J. A. Williams, of Halswell, announces his intention to contest the Avon . seat with Mr Leonard Harper. Blenheim, To-day. Mr Dodson offers himself for re-election for Wairau, for which seat the names of Mr Joseph Ward, Mr George Henderson, Mr A. P.‘Seymour, and Mr John Tucker Robinson are freely mentioned as candidates . For Picton it is said that the ex-mam-her, Mr Eyes, Mr W. F. Ferry, and Mr A. P. Seymour are likely to coma forward against Mr Conolly.
