The Mayor of Christchurch, Mr Halbert, is mentioned as a probable ; candidate for either Stanmbre or Christchurch North. No opposition is expected to arise in connection with Mr Richardson's seat at Kaiapoi. Messrs Alfred Sannders and J. D. Lance will probably come forward for the Cheviot. it is stated that the Mayor, Mr 'George Fisher,-will contest South Wellingtofa. Mr Buchanan is likely to be opposed by Mr Bunny for Wairarapa South.
