ASHBUETO.T COUE3I..Q CLUB.. The third meeting of the Ashburton Conning Club was held on the Laghmor •state yesterday. The entries were not so numerous as they were at the two preceding meetings, but hares were far more plentiful and the sport was much enjoyed by the limited number of spectators present. In the Puppy Stakes, Actor led Fairy Queen to the hare, which turned and passed through a fence, which stopped Actor, and Mr Zander's slut getting over won easily. Muckresa Maid waa unsighted immediately after leaving the slips, and Actress did. a great deal of '■ work alone. In the river-bed Muckresa viewed, and being comparatively fresh bad little difficulty in disposing of her opponent. Belmont led Bnowflight to the hare, but once in the latter was not to be denied, and working very closely in a long and finely contested course won with a kill. -In-the second round Fairy Queen beat Muckresa Maid easily. Tarquin led Soowiight, and scored the first turn, but ■ / the latter again working in capital form won without muoh difficulty at the finish. ■ ,The final between Fairy Queen and Snow was very closely contested, the former winning by two - points. In the All-Aged Stakes, Pericles . and Royal Charlie no the best coarse of the day, the just winning. Zeqbeda led Butterfly to the bare, but fell and let the fawn in. Mr Digby’s slut was rapidly halanwing affairs when she fell again, and . Butterfly ran up a large score before her .. opponent came again, and extinguished her chance by a kill The final between Royal Charlie and Butterfly was another excellent course, the dog winning by a oopple of points. The following are the results:Fvxrr Stakes ; winner, L 1 0; runner-up, L 4 14s. First round. Fairy Queen beat Actor Muckreas Maid beat Actress Belmont. Tarquin ran a bye. - Second round. Fairy Queen beat Muckresa Maid. Snowfligbt beat Tarquin. Final Mr W. .Zander’s Fairy Queen beat Mr -Mutter’s Snowflight and won the stake. All-Aged Stakes. Winner IB 8s; Runner-up, IA 4s. - First Round, i Royal Charlie beat Pericles Butterfly beat Zmbeda Final. - Mr R. Duncan’s Royal Oharlie beatMr Mutter’s Butterfly, and lyon the stake*
