Wellington, To-day. The steamer Albion, eight days out from Sydney, has been signalled. The Florida’s Cargo. A private cable from London, received this morning, states that about 2,000 carcases of mutton by the steamer Florida from Wellington arrived in a bad condition. The damage was not caused by the defective working of the machinery, but 1 is attributed to the water which by some 1 means had found its way into the hold. A Murderer Executed. 1 Hokitika, To-day. 1 John O’Donoghue, found guilty of the murder of James Gifford at Maori Greek, ) was executed this murning. He made a 1 long rambling statement denying his guilt. Cn the scaffold be exclaimed in a ( loud voice three ti--es, “ God save Ireland !” Death was instantaneous. The Unemployed. Christchurch, To-day. A deputation from the unemployed waited on the Mayor this morning, and his Worship saw Mr March, who sent an u-gont telegram to the Government, requesting them to instruct the authorities at Addington to provide employment for those out of work.
