Having been suffering from illness I am unable to say if he started on Wednesday, and in the event of his not having done so should recommend the work being re-let. I should be glad of instructions re the works in the village settlement, only one resident having inspected the plans. He states that he is acting for others, and they require the north-west road planting with gums. The whole of the roads in the district are in a fair condition.” It was proposed by Mr Osborne and seconded by Mr Holmes—“ That fresh tenders be called for the formadon of Loudon’s road, to be in in a fortnight,— Carried. Some of the settlers are of opinion that the whole of the road in question is in the South Bakaia (district. However, he could assure the members that the Council had nothing to do with the roads; excepting county roa£a, the work rested entirely with the Board.
