I “ The Maclean pickles obtained the highest award at the International Exhibition 1882, against several of the principal English manufactures ; the highest award at the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s grand show, 1883; and also a latter highly commendatory from the President of the New Zealand Industrial Exhibition, 1883 and 1834 (no awards having been given).”—“ Professor A. W. Bickerton, Colonial A; ulyst, reports :—The pickles having been examined, were found to be well preserved, of good color, and perfectly free from adulteration. These pickles have been ia use in my own household for sometime past, and I consider them to be superior to those imported. The samples examined were purchased from a grocer in the city, and may therefore be considered to rep-e----sent the average quality.” —S. E. Notice is hereby given that at the ordinary mating of the Ashburton Coqnty Council, which will! be hold on FRIDAY, the 2nd day of May proximo, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, the following resolution will be considered by the Council : Resolved—That the Council do make a special order altering the number of the Council and re-adjusting the representation of the several Ridings of the County, and that such special order be as follows, that is to say: — Special Okdbp. In pursuance of the powers yested in it ip that bpliajf by the Counties Act, 18*6, and the Acts pipending the same, the Oopnty Council of the County of Ashburton, doth hereby order and declare that the said Council shall hence fori h consist of seven members inclusive of the Chairman, and that the number of Councillors to be elected by eaph Hiding shall be as follows ; By the Ashburton Riding, comprising the Longbeach Road District and Wakanui Road District Two Councillors. By the Upper Ashburton Riding, com* prising the Bangitata Road District and the Upper Ashburton Road ! District—Two Councillors. By the South Rakiia Riding, cbmpiising the South Rakaia Road District —One Councillor By the Mount Fi.'t Biding, comprising the Mount llutt Road District — One Councillor.
