The Australians then commenced their first innings, and at the conclusion of the day's play scored 100 with two wickets down. The following are the scores ; A. Bannerman, bowled 1 McDonnell, caught 47 Murdoch, not out 35 Giffen, not out 13 Extras 4 Total ... ... ... 100 The weather was showery during the day, and the play was stopped on account of the rain in the afternoon.
