Reid, Minister of Public Instruction, Mr F. B. i Sutton, ex-Minister, Hon H. E. Cohen, Minister of Justice, and others, - which were declared to be vacant by the Committee of Elections and Qualifications, on account of informality in regard to the' proclamation of their elections. Cricket. A nickel match was commenced here> to-day between the Australian team about to proceed to England and 15 of New South Wales. The latter went in first, and when stumps were drawn for the day, had scored 275 for the loss of six- wickets; Moses, not out, 137. The weather was fine during the day, and the wicket lively. Mr Francis; formerly Chief Secre- ' tary of Victoria, who has been seriously ill for some time past, died today, aged 65. [Received Jan. 26, 11.20 p.m.] The Election Validating Bill. Sydney, To-day. The Ministers’ Election Validating Bill was read a second time in the Legislative Assembly yesterday.
