It appears tha* Judge Hardcastle has been appointed as a deputy for Judge Ward during the latter’s illness, but the appointment has only been gazetted for the Christchurch and Timaru districts. Ashburton, however, is a district by itself, and consequently judgment given to-day in the case of Martin v. Brown is ncn-jndice, on account of the Judge having no jurisdiction. The probate and bankruptcy motions had therefore to stand over.
