Ashburton Guardian Office, Monday afternoon. MrT. Bullock reports of the Horse Market Ike week ending Saturday, Dec. 29th ; There was an average attendance of country aet&fts And others. 32 horses were yarded for the day's sale, a large proportion of which were ofan inferior description and some almost useless. There were buyers for good useful farm horses suitable for harvest work, but none of this description were entered. Light harness horses and inferior draughts were a drug, consequently very few changed hands out of the 31 entered, only 10 were sold, viz., inferior draughts, Ls to 1.6 10s; light harness horses, L 5 <* to Ls; hacks of an inferior dcscnption, |i S to LS ISs; dray, Ln 17s 6d ; waggon, LISI sundries at satisfactory prices. Landed properties Previous to the usual horse I. oflfered some rural property in the Wakanui district and some sections in Tinwald together with improvements, bnt it was difficult to obtain a bid; there appearing to be no inclination to purchase, consequently the properties offered were in. During the week I have sold IS allotments in the suburban district of Allenton, apd known as part of Allison Smith s block for the sum of L 137. ’Alfred Harrison reports his weekly sale as follows Saturday, December 29th: The horse market wisveVy dull, and very few animals of value were entered. Cows sold from L$ to Lo SS 6d; pigs brought h : gh prices, slips selling gp to- 13s each. Produce sold at about late isles, there being a want of animation through the whole sale.
