A STEAMER ASHORE.
+. - [by telegraph.] Wi llington, To-day. The a. a. Tui, on her way from Wanganui, touched on a rock inaida Kapiti. She started some of her plates, but arrived safe. Some of the cargo was injured by water, . -i Later. The Tui was from Foxton. She left , there on Saturday night, when she was in charge of the first officer, Mr G. Holding. At 1 a m. on Sunday morning she struck on the passage rock inside Kapiti. Finding that she was making water, there' being a foot in the hold, a sail was, paf; under her bottom, and the vessel taken ; back under the island and search made for*, the injury. Sixteen bales of wool, all wet, were taken on deck arid the bhld pumped out. When the damage was got, a r it was found to consist of a started bolt, and several rivets knocked ouc of th*-, plate beneath the water line. The leakj was trimmed off with blankets and tallow, and the Tui came on here safely.
