[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Alleged Arson. Baweba, To-day. Burton, the proprietor of the brewery burnt yesterday, has been arrested on a charge of arson. The British King. Wellington, To-day. The steamer British King, from London, is signalled. Fire. Chfistchukch, To-day. Wall’s Sandridge Hotel, at Sydenham, 21 'rooms, was totally destroyed by fire this ' morning. The insurances on the building are L 1,400 in the New Zealand, and furniture L6OO in the Australian Mutual. The Tongariro. Dunedin, To-day. The Tongariro, which sailed from Port to-day, on lo wing drew 20Jft and 18ft aft. She has 10,572 carcases of mutton, 2,342 bales : of wool, and 4 boxes of gold on board in addition to other cargo. The Result of Drink. Thomas Bissett, a fisherman, was killed by falling over a precipice 100 ft high, at Mansfoxd town. His wife refused to go for beer, and he left home for it. The body was fearfully mangled. He was drank at the time. Sudden Death. Jane Edwards, a dressmaker, aged 40 years, died suddenly yesterday, it is supposed from apoplexy. The deceased was .addicted to drinking.
