[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION;] A Visit Abandoned. Auckland, To-day. The following telegram has Been received from Lord Rosebery by Mr. J. M. Clark, the Mayor;—” Very sorry. We have to abandon visit to New Zealand; have written.—Rosebery, Government House, Melbourne.”
Supreme Court. Nblsok, To-day. At the Supreme Court the only criminal cue was that against Evans and Hal pine, indicted for s'ealing property in the assigned estate of Mrs Hutchison, and against David Davidson for receiving the same. The jury found a verdict of guilty against Evans and Davidson, and acquitted Halpine, The Judge said the oases were not one of ordinary larceny, and the defendants’ evident desire was to do a good turn to Mrs Hutchison. The sentence of one month’s imprisonment without hard labor was passed. The Unemployed. Chhistchukch, To-day. The Government have refused to alter their decision re giving work to the unemployed. The Committee of the unemployed have resigned, toiling the men to accept or reject the offer (4t Gl a day) as each individual prefers. Wrestling. DuNtWN, To-day.
