Pedigree : The King was bred by Messrs Fleming and Hedley, out of their famous brood mare Miss M Cormick, imported from Melbourne. Miss M’Cormick was purchased by the lite David Nesbitt from M’Connick Bros., Tasmania, and was specially selected for her breeding qualities—the correctness of that judgment has now been fully verified. King o’ the Vanquishers is by that famous stallion Young Vanquisher, imported from Scotland by the late David Nesbitt; g sire, Vanquisher, first prize at Camara in the 3 year old class. Young Vanquisher’s dam by Lochfergus Champion, g d by Champion, better known to breeders by the name of Blair’s Champion. As a 3-year-old, Young Vanquisher was first at Geelong, third at ihe Grand National, Melbourne; as a - year-old, first at Geelong and second at Ballarat the same year.
