A ROMANTIC DUEL.

-—■ ■ - w Telegrams from Temesvar, in Hungary, give an account of the fatal duel which was fought, on the 20th October between Count Stephan Batthyany and Dr Ludwig Rosenberg. At the third exchange of shots Count Stephan Batthany was struck by a bullet in the temple, dying instantly. Dr Rosenberg Jijd his friends entered a carriage that was waiting and drove away, while the two seconds of the Count—Arsen Demaskin and Eagen Dadaji, belonging to two of the best county families of the district —were ..found and examined. The catastrophe is the result of a love affair, of which the Deutsche Zeitung gives the following account Count Batthyany, one of the “ leading lights of fashion ” of the Hungarian capital, was married on the 16th of October, in Wiesbaden to Miss Ilona Schosberger deFornya, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy banker in Budapesth. Fraulein Schosberger became the bride of the young count most unwillingly. Last year she, had met. Dr Rosenberg, a rising" solicitor at Perth. He fell in love with her, and his fellings were fully reciprocated. The parents seemed inclined to favor the growing intimacy till Count Batthyany made his appear- - young lady, and Ci waS' accepted by her parents. She, declared she would . marry no one ’but Dr Rosenberg, whereupon her parents took her to MsTriehbad, where Count Batthyany, a few hours after their arrival, also made his appearance. One morning Fraulein Schosberger went out very early for a walk and returned home with Frau Rosenberg. Her lover had anang&fwith; Htr to meet in the neighboring town of Eger, and there they were married according to the Jewish rite. The young lady not being of age, and certain legal formalities having been .neglected, Herr Schosberger declared the marriage null and void, departed at once with his family from .Marienbad, and kept his whereabouts .’..P r - Rosenberg, however, "oSSified '• information as to where jhis wife was hidden, and appeared on the scene—a Paris hotel—to demand Pher. He was greeted by a revolver pointed at his chest, and retired. The Schosbergers left Paris immediately after this ' episode, and Dr Rosenberg again tried to find out where they were, but in vain. The next information he received «was . the advertisement of a “fashionable marriage ” in one of the society papers dated from Wiesbaden, October 16, containing the names of Count Stephan Batthyany and Ilona, daughter of HerrSchosbergerde Fornya, Dr,Kpsenberg brought an action against father of the lady he calls his wife, and at the same time sent his seconds to Count Batthyany, whose honeymoon has come to an abrupt end by the bullet of the man whose happiness he had destroyed: Dr Rosenberg and his seconds were afterwards arrested at Szakahhaza, and _ - -It then transpired that it had been arrangedTharitfertwa combaiania alvauld advance each five paces toward the other before firing.
