[REUTER'S TELEGRAMS—COPYRIGHT.] Earl Rosebery. ;Melbourne, Yesterday. Lord Rosebery arrived here to-day from Sydney. The Wool Sales. At their wool sales this week the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, submitted a fairly representative catalogue, comprising 4,000 bales. There was a good attendance of foreign buyers, and an active competition was experienced j 3,540 bales sold at about the level of late prices. Inferior crossbreds and faulty merinos are still somewhat depressed ; scoured wools are in active demand, and realised up to 22j/d; a parcel of fleece passed in at 2i%d. Stonewalling. Sydney, Yesterday. The Land Bill was brought up for discussion in the Legislative Assembly last evening, and met with persistent stonewalling from the opposite benches. The Government was equally determined to carry the measure through, and the House has now been sitting for twenty-four hours continuously. [Received Dec. 14, 12 20 pm.] The Opposing Force. Cairo, Dec. 12. Baker Pasha is now engaged in organising an expedition against the Soudan rebels. His force will be composed of Egyptian Gend’armes, negro troops, and a contingent of Bedouin troops. A Protest. London, Dec. 13. A meeting of persons interested in the late International Fisheries Exhibition was held at the Cannon street Hotel last night. Much dissatisfaction was expressed at the awards of the International Juries, and it was resolved that a deputation should wait on the Government to protest against the same. The Debate on the Land Bill continued in the Legislative Assembly until an early hour this morning, when the motion for the second reading of the Bill was carried on a division by 76 votes to 16.
