[PKR PRESS ASSOCIATION.] The Triumph. Auckland, To-day. The Triumph ia now breaking up. The aea last night drove her further on the rocks and was making clean breaches over her, while tc-day it is found that the bottom is out of the forehold. The engine room and No. 2 compartment are full of water, and the foremast is sagging. Captain Worsp and Clayton, and Mr Fraser went down last night and made a survey. They recommend that everything that can be got out of her be taken at once, and bo Bold! This will bj done. The official enquiry is arranged to take place on Thursday next. A steamer and a barge have gone down with a winch to remove an engine, threshing machines and other large packages of cargo for Southern ports. Peculiar Fatality WiLUNGTON, To-day. An elderly woman named Hamlin died at the hospital under pe nliar circumstances last night. She is a resident of Stokes Talley, Upper Outt, and on the '3oth ult. when entering her house a lad fired a gun. There was no shot in the gun, but the powder lodged in her le't arm above the wrist, and amputation of the hand became nec.saary ; bnt the poor old lady succumbed under the operation. She was aged 70. It is not yet known under what circumstances the gun was fired. The police have cone out. The Croton Oil Case. Blenheim, To-day. The Supreme Caurt sessions opened this morning. The only criminal case was the croton oil case. The Grand Jury found a true bill against two of the four defendants. The trial wil proceed this afternoon. Interprov ncial Cricket. Dunedin, To day.
