♦* [PKR PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] The Appeal CourtWellington, To-day. At the Appeal Court this morning in the case of Fuchs v. Union Steam Shipping Co the Court affirmed the decision of the Supreme Court at Christchurch, granting a new trial. Judga Gillies dissented. In the case of tha Crown v Scanlon (Auckland) their Honors said they found great difficulty in coming to a decision, . owing to the absence of certain paiticulars iu the cans stated. Their Honors deferred giving judgment until receiving a report from Justice Gillies. The Court then adjourned until 6th March, when they meet in Christchurch, and judgments will be given in Bunt v. Gordon and Crown v. Scanlon. Fatality. Uawkba., To-day. James Harvey, a buahfeller, was killed at Eltfaam on Friday by a tree falling on him. He was missed on Saturday and ■ was discovered underneath the tiee. The work of extricating him was difficult, and was not accomplished till midnight, when he died. The Unemuloyed. Christchurch, To-day. The Minister for Public Works has arranged to receive a deputation of the Christchurch unemployed on Friday. An Attack Frustrated. Yesterday a number of the Christchurch members of the Skeleton Army proceeded to Lyttelton with the object of creating a disturbance at the Salvation Army service. Being refused admission to the Salvation Hall they attacked the doorkeeper, but the latter being assisted by people passing at the time and the police shortly after coming up the attack was frustrated, and eleven members of the Skeleton Army were arrested. A River Steamer. A small steamer, to run from Christchurch to Sumner, was launched on the river Avon on Saturday. Fire. Early this morning a cottage occupied by Mrs Bassingth waite v. as distroyed by fire. The insurance was L2OO in the Liverpool, London and Globe. A Presentation. This afternoon the formal presentation of the bust of Gtribaldi (subscribed for by 112 Italians) to the Museum was a ade by Mr A. Cracroft Wilson, Consul for Italy, in the presence of a number of Italians. Dr Von Haast, Curator of the Museum, acknowledged the presentation.
