Gentlemen —It has at all times afforded me great pleasure to take part in every work tending to develope the resources of the County of Ashburton. When recently I resigned my seat for the Upper Ashburton Riding, I felt that the most important works in the County had been successfully completed, and that it would be a relief to me, to be free for a time from a portion of my public duties. However, your requisition just re eived indicates so strong a desire on the part of the ratepayers that I should again fid a seat at the County Council, that I feel it ray duty to set aside personal considers* tions, and have much pleasure in acceding to your requeit.
