2.45 p.m. —Novel Race (a handicap), of 25 sovs ; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance, 1 sov ; the winner to be sold, the proceeds going to the fund ; weights will be declared immediately after the Counties Handicap is run. 1 mile. 3.30 p.m.—Town of 20 sovs, for all horses that have never won an advertised stake exceeding 15 sovs; entrance, sovs ; weight for ago. miles. 4.15 p.m. —Christmas Handicap, of 30 sovs ; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance, 1 sov ; weights will be declared after Town Plate is run. l£ miles. 5 p.m.— Consolation Handicap, of 10 sovs ; for all beaten horses during the day ; nomination, 10s, to be made immediately after the Christmas Handicap is run ; acceptance free ; to be notified within ten minutes of declaration of weights. 1 mile. RULES. 1. A district horse shall mean any horse that jhas been commonly resident in the Counties of Ashburton or Geraldine from September 27, 1883, and up to the date of the forthcoming meeting, and owned by a person who has resided in one or both of the said Counties during the same period. 2. General rules of Ashburton Racing Club and Canterbury Jockey Club racing rules strictly adhered to, and new scale of weight for age adopted. 3. Five per cent, will be deducted from the gross of all moneys payable in accordance with programme, for expenses of the course. 4. All disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by the stewards, or whom they may appoint, their decision on all pu-i i connected with the carrying out of this programme to be final, and entries will only be received subject to these conditions. &. All nominations and acceptances go to the fund. Weights will be published on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 15, and acceptances for the races to be paid to the Secretary as above not later than 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22. J. C. BELL, 10 771 Hon.
