(J‘KH PRESS J Native Interpreters. Gisborne, To-day. A meeting of the licensed native interpreters of the Kast Coast District was held yesterday, Captain Porter presided. ■ It was resolved to establish an Association for the purpose of taking the necessary steps to remove and remedy the disadvantages under which the profession at present labors. The co-operation of other licensed interpreters throughout the colony is to bo invited. BSS A Forger. , Christchurch, To-aay. Henry Ferris was this morning committed for trial upon a further charge of obtaining goods by means |of forged orders. This makes the third charge of this nature upon which the accused will be put upon his trial. The Weather. Dunedin, To-day, The weather is very sultry and threatening rain. Holiday Excursions. The harbor excursions are largely patronised. Powder Mill Burnt. The Owake powder mill has been burnt down. No one was hurt. The Harbor Board. The Harbor Board has again decided to defer letting the contract tor the wharf extension. The secretary was instructed to prepare a statement showing what would be the probable increase of the revenue from raising rates all over on exports and imports at 5 per cent excepting wool, which is to be raised from 4d to 9d. Death from Poisoning. ■ Walter Augustus Nettleton, residing at Haikoral Valley, while proceeding to Si uth Dunedin on Monday evening, was observed to fall backwards on the footpath and was picked up insensible and carried "to his home, but never rallied. The doctor who attended gave bis opinion that the man died from alcoholic poisoning.
