Melbourne, Nov. 23. Myriads of locusts are in the Sandhurst district.
The Nelson has been floated out of deck after a thorough cleaning. Sydney, Nov 23. The Earl of Rosebery, since his arrival in this colony, has been busy visiting the different public institutions, and has expreseed himself generally well pleased. To-day a party, consisting of the Governor, Lady Loftus, the Earl and Countess of Roseberry, Sir William and Lady Des Voeux, Baron Hubner, Mr Eustace Smith, M.P. for Teignmouth, proceeded to the Blue Mountains, with the object of seeing the scenery. An important resumption of city/property is about to be made by the Government, with the object of forming a wide street connection between George and Pitt streets, on the North aide of the General Post Office.
In an action brought by Mrs Falkner to recover damages cn account of the death of her husband by a train accident, in April last, the jury gave a verdict for L 3.500. The balance-sheet of the Hampson Mission shows a balance of LB7. Brisbane, Nov. 23 Mr Rutledge, Attorney-General, was returned unopposed. The captain, Government Agent, second mate, and two of the crew of the labor schooner Alfred Vittery have been committed for trial for a murder at Maryborough, and for the alleged murder of a Kanaka on board.
