News has been received that six Frenchmen have landed at Ballina, on the coast of this colony. They are believed to be escapees from New Caledonia.

The Agent-General of Victoria in London has telegraphed to the Government that the French Cabinet has decided to proceed with the Transportation of Criminals Bill, notwithstanding the recent rejection by the Senate of the principal clause.
