Ashburton, Guardian Office Friday aftemoan. Messrs Matson, Cox and Co. report upon the live stock market for the week ending November aoth as follows: —At the Tmwald Yards last Tuesday we held our usual weekly sale of cattle, sheep and pigs. The attendance and lor thersale were both small, but so hxai vtr vrm concerned we succeeded in clearing all our entries at prices fully equal to late quotations.' There was only one entry of fat sheep, viz—crossbred shorn ewes from ‘.he Lonnbeach Estate, which were cleared at 13s 6d 10 IJS- icd each. We also sold on account of Mr William Strachan 400 merino hoggets at loe each. ,la fat and store cattle the entry was small, but every one was sold. Our quo-tatioas-lbrmuttoa is 2#d to 2j£d per lb; beef, 18s 10 23s per loolbs. During the week we have sola 52 head of forward stores, all steers, at Ls 10s; 96 head good stores, L$ 14s to L 6; 32 head fat cattle, L 7 i?s 6d; 24 stores, L 3 ?s 6d. In stqre sheep during the last ten days the demand MS been remarkably brisk. We have, sold 309 merino ewes in wool at 10s; 280 hoggets, crossbred,'at 13s nd; 215 merino ewes in wool, lafabs at loot, ns 6d; 515 shorn ewesj lamba at foot, ys 6d; €2O woolly ewes, with 70 per cent of lambs, 10s 6d; 603 ewes in wOol, 75 jrer’centbf fambs, a grand line, at lls 6d, etc. At Tuesday’s sale, on account of Mr G. R. Clark, we sold the two-year-old Ayrshire bull Scottie the Third to Mr William Strachan. Also, the Ayrshire bull Baron, by Young Bafoni to Mr S. Donaldson, Longbeaca; at 20 guineas. We feel|sure the advent of the above-bulls will be of the greatest service to the dairymen of the district. There is a very been demand for first-class farms, several of which we have now placed under offer, ■with the hope of speedily- doing business. Palmer wethers at 18s to 23s and merino wethers at 16s 3d in the wool, and account Mr M. Studholme wethers 44 21173, 44 at 17s 3d ; account the Lowcliffe Estate a line of 210 at ifis gd ; account Me P* Jones’ exors. 32 at 14s, 65 at 14s 3d, shorn sheep. We had also a splendid consignment of the Messrs Hay Bros’ Pigeon Bay heifers, a grand quality line, and sold at top price*" We also sold on account of the executors of the late Mr J.. H. Parkinson, Kaituna, some splendid quality four-year-old fat steers, -Which’ frr quality were second to none in the market, and. realised fully up to our quotations’."
