A 'Whole Army Annihilated. [Received Nov. 23, 12 40 o.m.] [REUTER’S TELEGRAMS. —COPYRIGH I'. ] Alexandria, Nov. 22. Intelligence has reached here that the Egyption army in the Soudan, under General Hicks Pasha, has been totally annihilated by the rebel followers of El Mahdi, the False Prophet. No details are yet to hand. Later... Some particulars have been received from the Soudan regarding the destruction of the Egyptian army, which have now fully confirmed the accounts to hand. It is stated that a battle lasting three days was fought between the rebels and the whole force under the command of General Hicks. The fighting was most desperate on both sides, but the Egyptian troops were outnumbered and completely annihilated by the rebels, who gave ho quarter, only one man escaping from the slaughter.- 5 '■ •- : : ' ; ■■

[Received Nov. 23, 2.23 p.m.] , Alexandria, The forces under Hicks-Fasha, when the campaign against the Soudan rebels opened' some- time back, consisted of 8,600 infantry, 1,400 cayalry and four batteries of artillery. It is not definitely known how many were directly operating against the. enemy prior to the recent defeat, but it is supposed that fuUy five thousand were actually engaged in the battle, which resulted in the total annihilatidn of General Hicks’forces.
