Hewson’s ch f Lady Clare, 3yrs, 6it 71b 0 Roseneath was the favorite, and she got the best of an indifferent start and was never headed, winning rather easily from j-elim, who came quickly at the end. On the totalisator there were 518 investors, SOB being on the winner. Consolation Handicap, of 20 aovs ; nomination, 1 sov, to be made immediately after the Totalisator Stakes is run ; acceptance, free, to be notified within ten minutes of declarationi of weights. Distance, 1 mile. Mr J. W. Cotton’s Prosper©, 6it Blb (Sharp)” 1 Mr T. Quill’s Miss Ring filly, 7st 91b (Wattie) 2 Mr A. G. Drummond’s Spofforth, 6st 51b ... ... 3 MrP. MoCafferty’s Nimrod, 6st 21b.,’. 0 The Miss King filly was the favorite, and from the start it was seen that it would lie between her and Prospero. The latter went off with a strong leal, but the filly<made up for lost ground on coming up the straight. However, she failed te reach Prospero, who was lauded a winner very cleverly by about a length. Of the 313 investors oh the totalisator there were 102 on the winner, the dividend being L2 15s. The following amounts, were paid over this afternoon by the Ashburton Racing Club to winners at the recent, race meeting : £ s. d.
