Programme : 12.30 p.m.— Counties Hurdle Race (a handicap), of 25 sovs ; over six flights of hurdles, about 3ft Gin high ; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance, 1 sov. 1J miles. 1.15 p.m.— Selling Hurdle Race, of 15 sovs ; over five flights of hurdles, about 3ft Gin high ; no weight under lOst ; post entry, 1 sov, to be made with Secretary immediately after Counties Hurdle Kace ; winner to be sold for 15 sovs, any surplus to go to the funds. 1|- miles. 2 p m,— Counties Handicap, of 40 sovs ; second horse to save his stake; nomina ion, 1 sov; acceptance, 2 sovs. miles. 2.45 p.m.— Novel Race (a handicap), of 25 sovs ; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance, 1 sov ; the winner to bo sold, the proceeds going to the fund ; weights will be declared immediately after the Counties Handicap is run. 1 mile. 3.30 p.m.—Town Plvte, of 20 sovs, for all horses that have never won an advertised stake exceeding 15 sovs; entrance, sovs ; weight for age. miles.
4.15 p.m.— Christmas Handicap, of 30 sovs ; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance, 1 sov ; weights will be declared after Town Plate is run. miles. 5 p.m.— Consolation Handicap, of 10 sovs ; for all beaten horses during the day ; nomination, 10s, to be made immediately after the Christmas Handicap is run ; acceptance free ; to be notified within ten minutes of declaration of weights. 1 mile. RULES. 1. A district horse shall mean any horse that has been commonly resident in the Counties of Ashburton or Geraldine from September 27, 1883, and up to the date of the forthcoming meeting, and owned by a person who has resided in one or both of the said Counties during the same period. 2. General rules of Ashburton Racing Club and Canterbury Jockey Club racing rules strictly adhered to, and new scale of weight for age adopted. 3. Five per cent, will be deducted from the gross of all moneys payable in accordance with programme, for expenses of the course. 4. All disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by the stewards, or whom they may appoint, their decision on all points connected with the carrying out of this programme to be final, and entries will only be received subject to these conditions. 5. All nominations and acceptances go to the fund. All entries and nominations to be accompanied by entrance fees, name and age of horse, and colors of rider, and in the hands of the Secretary, addressed to Beecher’s Central Hotel, Ashburton, not later than 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1. Weights will be published on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 15, and acceptances for the races to be paid to the Secretary as above not later than 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22. J. C. BELL, 10 771 Hon. The coach leaves the coach stables, Wakanui Road (opposite Central Hotel), Ashburton, at 4.50 p.m., arriving at Longbeach at 7.30 p. m.
