ASHBURTON GAS COMPANY.

The fifth annual general meeting of the shareholders was .held at tbe Arcade Chambers, Burnettostreet, this afternoon. Mr Bullock, Chairman of Directors, presided. The following report was read if•‘The Directors beg to submit to the shareholders their fifth annual report together with balance-sheet showing the operations of “ the Company for the past year. The profit and loss account shows amount ...available . for;-jlividead,.etc ,-j L 1,006 ifia 4d, which your Directors .re- f commend should be appropriated as fol-’ lowa:—Dividend-of 10 percent, on. paid up capital, LSO to be applied towards liquidation of the preliminary expenses, L6O to be added to the reserve fund and the balance, LlO6 loa 4d, to be carried forward. The Directors who retire in accordance with the Articles of Association arc Messrs E. G. Wright and A. Orr, who arc eligible for re-election. It will also ba necessary to elect a Director in the room of Mr 11. Friedlander, who is at present absent from the colony. The auditors’ (Messrs Jameson and Gundry) term of office expires in accordance with the Articles of Association, but they are also eligible for re-election.” The report 5 was unanimously adopted.
