Programme : 12.30 p.m.— Counties Hurdle Race (a I handicap), of 25 sovs ; over six flights of hurdles, about 3ft 6in high ; nomination 1 aov ; acceptance, 1 sov. miles. 1.15 p. m. Selling Hurdle Race, of 15 sova ; over five flights of hurdles, about 3ft 6in high : no weight under 10st ; post entry, 1 sov, to be made with Secretary immediately after Counties Hurdle Kace ; winner to be sold for 15 sovs, any surplus to go to the funds. Ij miles. 2 p m.— Counties Handicap, of 40 sovs ; second horse to save his stake ; nornina ion, 1 sov ; acceptance, 2 sovs. 1J miles.
2.45 p m.— Novel Race (a handicap), of 25 sovs ; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance, 1 sor ; the winner to be sold, the proceeds going to the fund ; weights will be declared immediately after the Counties Handicap is run. 1 mile. 3.30 p.m.—Town Plate, of 20 sovs. for all horses that have never won an advertised stake exceeding 15 sovs; entrance, sovs; weight for age. miles. 4.15 p m— Christmas Handicap, of 30 sovs ; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance, 1 sov ; weights will be declared after Town Plate is run. miles. 5 p.m.— Consolation Handicap, of 10 sovs ; for all beaten horses during the day ; nomination, 10s, to be made immediately after the Christmas Handicap is run ; acceptance free ; to be notified within ten minutes of declaration of weights. 1 mile.
RULES. 1. A district horse shall mean any horse that has been commonly resident in the Counties of Ashburton or Geraldine from September 27, 1883, and up to the date of the forthcoming meeting, and owned by a person who has resided in one or both of the said Counties during the same period. 2. General rules of Ashburton Racing Club and Canterbury Jockey Club racing rules strictly adhered to, and new scale of weight for age adopted. 3. Five per cent, will be deduct from the gross of all moneys payable in accordance with programme, for expenses of the course. 4. All disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by the stewards, or whom they may appoint, their decision on all points connected with the carrying out of this programme to bo final, and entries will only be received subject to these conditions. 5. All nominations and acceptances go to the fund.
All entries and nominations to b 3 accompanied by entrance fees, name and age of horse, and colors of r'der, and in ttie hands of the (secretary, addressed r.o Beecher’s Central Hotel, Ashburton, not later than 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1. Weights will be published on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 15, and acceptances for the races to be paid to the Secretary as above not later than 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22. J. 0. BELL, 10 771 Hon.
