Ashburton Guardian Office, Monday afternoon. Alfred Harrison reports his weekly sale as follows:—Saturday, Nov. 3rd : Horses very dull; cows sold well; nearly all entries being cleared at satisfactory prices : Pigs are selling at very high rates, especially small sizes; weaners and slips bringing to-day ns, 12s, 13s, 15s and 16s, whilst diminutive “ Captain Cook’s ” actually sold at Bs‘ each ; calves, 3s to 7s 6d each; fowls, 2s 6d to 3s 6d; turkeys, 15s per pair, small. Produce D. potatoes, 4 05 to 60s per ton. Tea 21s, guaranteed. Ihe attendance was fairly good, but there is nothing very bride to record. —On Tuesday, Oct. 30th, I heid a sale for'Mr H, Britton, when all lots offered, including , piano, were sold; satisfacto reports of the Horse Market for the week ending:Saturday, Nov. 3rd: — 30 horses were yardecl for the day s sale, a huge .proportion-were light harness horses and hacks, for, which .there is very little demand. There Was' a" large attendance b of fanners and, ethers, and the biddings- for the best description of the horses offered were fairly spirited. Out of the 3a pffered, txa were sold al the following prices; ■Viz Hacks of a good description, LBiss to Ll 3 10s; 3an ifo-year-old light harness horses, L 9 10s to LF4 ios ; inferior and aged draughts, L 4 10s to L 6 ios. Oats, good,sample-is. to is ibd per bushel.— Landed Properties ; The biddings for most of the 'prcnperlivS c Sefed were languid, I sold T.S. 100, Tinwald, for ;L2O. I also offered' the lease, for 7 years, of a number of borough reserves, but only 4 were let, viz : —Reserve 1690, situated near the Town Belt west, at L 6 per anni;m ; reserve Being T.S. 1066 to 1075 and ',lo76 to 1085, at L 8 per annum; T.S. 1232 and 1233, -acre, 1.2 ios per annum ; T.S., 1053, %-a.cxe, Lii ios per annum.
