Ashburton Guardian Office, Thursday afternoon. Messrs Matson, Cox and Co. held their usoaLsMe,of cattle, sheep, and pigs at the Ashburton Yards on Tuesday Oct. 30th. The attendance was not quite so large owing to the Timaru Show, but the bidding for sheep throtfghoht the sale was far more spirited than usuaT Und all lines were quitted at satisfactory prices. In- sheep we had a fine line of the Winchmore fat sheep, wnieh elicited the usual competition... The following are the prices realised:—Pat, crossbred wethers, 21s; fat ewUs, 20s fid and 20s 3d ; fat menno •wethers, 9s to 14s; shorn crossbred hoggets, xxs 3d; crossbred hoggets in wool, 13 s 4-d and 15s ; merino evvis and lambs, 8s pd, 9 s sd, 103 2d, ns id, lis 5d ; crossbred ewes and lambs, 15s, 6d. Several-lines of ewes had a remarkably fine J percentage of lambs. In fat sheep the'shle was very dull and dragging, and a large proportion of both fat and stores were turned, out unsold. .
