Ashburton Guardian Office, Saturday afternoon, Messrs Friedlander Bros., in conjunction with Messrs K. Wilkin and Co. (per Mr F. C. Tabart, auctioneer), . report on live stock market for the,.week ending October 17th : At the Ashburton yards last Tuesday a good supply of shtep and cattle were entered, and the bidding was spirited , throughout the sale. The total for the day comprised 3,399 sheep and 149 head of cattle, of which our principal entries were on account of Messrs Hugh Kennedy, L. E. Corsbie, A. Grayburn, D. FitzHodgson, George Cole, Thomas Walsh; McLean* Bros., David Wilson, etc. We sold sheep—249 merino wethers at 10s, 400 thseequarterrbred hoggelts at 12s, 137 croubfdd eifres with hambs at ids, 198 merino eWes with lambs at Bs, 54 hoggetts at 10s 3d. A small :lines of fat lambs we had entered: v u for want 6f buyers they had to be turned t .^unsold,, Fat cattle—A fair supply yardetiJ3 4Ve* quote for prime fat steers, 24s per loolb; second quality do, from 19s to 22s 6d Eer loolb. The store cattle market was cavily supplied,: and the largest portion of them were sold satisfactorily to vendors.
