Daniel ‘ O’Rourke has been a very good per- , former on the turf: he has proved himself such by winning the Christchurch Cup and Derby in 1876. If mated with'good mares he can produce good racing stock. He is the sire of Badsworth, Sir George, and others too numerous to particularise. A horse of his description should be well patronised in the district. Daniel will travel the following districts Kyle, Wakanui road, Waterloo, North and South of the River, Longbeach, Winslow, Tinwald, and remain in his box the end of the week at Mr Beecher’s Central Hotel until Monday. Pedigree : The King was bred by Messrs Fleming and Hedley, out of their famous brood mare "Miss M'Cormick, imported from Melbourne. Mias M'Cormick was purchased by the late David Nesbitt from M'Cormick Bros., Tasmania, and was specially selected for her breeding qualities—the correctness of that judgment has now been fully verified. ; Miss M'Cormick by Lincolnshire Herb; g d by Black Champion. King o’ the Vanquishers is by that famous stallion Young Vanquisher, imported from Scotland by the late David Nesbitt; g sire, Vanquisher, first prize at Oa'marU in the, 3 year old class. Young Vanquisher’s dam by Loch: fergus Champion, g d by Champion, better known to breeders by the name of Blair’s : Champion. As a 3-year-old, Young Vanquisher was first at Geelong, third at the Grand National, Melbourne; as a 4-' year-old, first at Geelong and second at Ballarat the same year. Cassivelanus is a bright bay, with black points, standing over 16 hands, and showing immense power and great quality. _As a two-year-old he won two races at Newmarkeit, beating large fields. Caractacus is now the most fashionable aa well'as- the most-desirable representation of the Venison blood Kingston was in every retipect bred to stay. His sire, Venison, proved himself a horse of undeniable stoutness, and it is worthy of remark that during his career as a three-year-old he travelled on foot his circuit, which the more modern wonders (Fisherman and Rataplan) accomplished by rail. It is stated upon reliable authority that Venison walked upwards of 900 miles, ran fourteen and won twelve times in his three-year-old racing season. . . . Caractacus is in every way most worthy the notice of breeders who fancy the Venison and Defence blood (and who could object to the latter especially 1) more particularly as he—as well as bearing a marked resemblance to his handsome son in other respects—has a good temper. . . .
