London, Sept. 27.
It is now generally considered improbable that any amicable agreement between France and China will result from the negotiations which recently tuok place between the Marquis Tseng and the French Ministry. The report that Mr Parnell, the member for Cork, had been shot, is confirmed; but his injuries have not as yet proved fatal. At the present moment the extent of his injuries is unknown. It is believed that the shot w<>a fired accidentally by an Orangemen during the holding of a Parnellite meeting in County Tyrone. The greatest excitement is reported to prevail in Dublin.
The Committee appointed in London to select the most suitable dredge for the purposes of the Melbourne Harbor Trust have concluded their deliberations upon the report of Mr Ford, the Secretary of the Trust. The Committee have resolved to recommend the purchase of a dredge of the same type as the Bunyip, now at Melbourne, at an estimated cost of L 28.000. The indignities to which King Alfonso of Spain was subjected during his recent visit to Paris have roused a feeling of resentmenc in Madrid, where a disorderly mob has menaced the French Embassy.
