FIRE IN AUCKLAND.

The conflagration originated in a shop occupied by Jacobs, a bootmaker. Jacobs, his wife and two children who, slept in' the upper storey narrowly escaped. Mrs Jacobs was awakened by the bedrqom becoming full of smoke. -At the same-time-she noticed flames issuing from theshpp; window below. A neighbor attracted'hy;*' her screams procured a ladder and rear; cued one of the children by the windoWV Jacobs, in his excitement, got out akjhs other window, and fell to' the ground, bnif> - escaped unhurt. Mrs Jacobs and ilie n other child escaped by clambering, into the window of an adjoining shop.
