STAGNANT WATER.
To the Editor.
Sir, —I notice in your issue of Thursday, a letter from a “ Ratepayer,” re a stagnant pool of water opposite Friedlander’s grain store, and asking where is the Inspector of Nuisances ? Does “Ratepayer ” think that the Inspector has got nothing to look after but that pool, when there is another hundred in the town of the same kind to see to 1 (and our drainage system are better than any other town in New Zealand —vide opinions of town councillors). “ Ratepayer ” also refers to councillors with spectacles. Does he not know that official spectacles are worn for the purpose of not to see 1 If “ Ratepayer ” wishes to know where the Inspector is, I would advise ■him to purchase a section that is under the level of the street, and wait until it comes on to rain, and he will soon find where the Inspector is.—l am, etc., Specs. Ashburton. 21st Sept.
