Messrs i Miles and Co. report upon the live stock market for the week ending Thursday, 20th September, as follows :—Addington At the >yards.-on. Wednesday there was a full market of tat sTieep, which as a whole were far above the'Average quality for this season of the year rin fact in tarth'fht sheep and beef a bettersupplyas regards quality could hardly be desired. The quality of the various lots being rather indifferent as to condition, values were difficult to obtain 1 / and the transactions of the day in thisb> class can Scarcely be taken as a criterion. The totals yarded for the day were 5,780" sheep, 413-cattle, and 62 pigs. Of the various consignments special mention must be made of Mr J. Studholme’s fat wethers, and those of Mr .D. M'Lean, of Albury. They elicited keen competition, and were ultimately purchased -for freezing. Mr Threlkeld’s fat bullocks:were much admired and spiritedly bid for, and as showing that the trade fully appreciate* stock which has been thoroughly fattened agd brought before them in good order, they realised without exception the top price for the day. The fat heifers from the Levels estate al o reached good prices, realising fully 25s . per ; loolb. —Ashburton : On Tuesday, last; at Ashburton, there was only a small market, and prices showed but little tendency to a rise in values. Fat sheep were sold.at about 3d per lb., store sheep at about recent rates.. Privately during the week we sold/fOri aticonnt Mr G. Burgess, a line of merino wethers at 10s, on the larm.
