Among the passengers by the Messageries Maritimes steamship Saghalien, now in this port and homeward bound for Marseilles, are the Irish informers, Hanlon and Kavanagh. The men are travelling under assumed names, but their identity has been |completcly established, and they will not be per-r,. mitted to land,

Scratched. The following horses have been scratched for the Melbourne Cup Caractacus, Thomtop, and Mountebank. . The Charge of Heresy. ■ , The Presbytery met to-day for the purpose of taking into consideration a charge of heresy against the Rev Chas. Strong. After hearing some formal evidence the Presbytery adjourned until Thursday next. Obituary. Mr Robert Macgregor, M.L.A. for Emerald Hill is dead.
