Ashburton Guardian Office, Wednesday afternoon, The Sydney Markets.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report of the Sydney Markets, under date August 30, as follow: —Wool; The catalogues submitted during the past week have consisted almost entiiely of scoured parcels, which have beer cleared off at late rates.—Seeepskins: Market scarcely so firm, best parcels only making 6j£d per lb.— Tallow: The demand for both shipping and trade lots continues brisk, best mutton being readily taken up at L 36, and best beef at L 34 per top.—Butter: We have no change to report.—Potatoes; The market is not yet-clear of old stocks, though a considerable amount of business has been done at a slight reduction on our last weck’s quotations. As the Te Anau bought hilt a small quantity, we anticipate a slight recovery in prices.—Bran: There is no alteration to report.—New Zealand Flax. Inferior qualities are dull of sale at Ll 5 per ton. Bright, well-dressed parcels are, however, in limited demand at recent rates.
