Gloucester got well away at the start, and held a strong lead all the way round to the home turn. On entering the straight First Demon went to the front, followed by Norma and Cunnamulla; but shortly afterwards The Gem came up witha great rush, closely attended by Aide-de-Camp. A splendid finish ensued, ending in a half head victory for The Gem, half a length between second and third. Nicholas was fourth, Norma fifth, Sweet William sixth, Willeroo seventh. Time—3min. 36f secs. The Spring Maidbk Stakes—One mile and a half. Bristol 1 Olga (Beatrice filly?) ... 2 Palarenda ... 3
