“*■ Guardian Office, Tuesday afternoon. rijJfiiT, BnUeck reports! of the Horse Market forthe week ending Saturday, September I Notwithstanding the very severe weather there was a moderate: attendance of country settlers and a large proportion of the entries were sold, although of an , inferior description. 15 horses were brought forward for the day’s sale and 10 sold at the following prices, viz., medium draughts, to Ll 9; do, aged and inferior, L 6 to Li 1; light harness horses, L 6 to L 6 los; z-year-old filly, of a light description, L 6; hacks, Lj to L 6 10s, Dray, Ll2 ; D.F. plough, LS; seed oats, 2s id. Now that there has been so many horses exported- to Sydney and Queensland, perhaps it . might not be out of' place to remind farmers and others ■* that ■ .prohfthly good draught stock will be scarce, and it would he well for them to turn theic attention to breeding, and in all cases from superior stock, as I have no douaihiyhave noticed that any good young horses brought Into- the yards lor sale realise very satisfactory prices indeed, whereas inferior irofteirdiffitult to get rid of even at low prices, anSiif donrii- first-class horses cost ho more in keeping than inferior sorts.
