Sporting. The latest betting on the A.J.C. Derby is 6 to 4 against the field, Martini-Henry being a firm favorite. The latest betting in the Great Metropolitan Stakes is as follows First Demon 7 to 1, Navigator to to 1, Norman 12 to 1. Much interest is being taken in the race. Nothing is going better than First Demon and Masquerade. Yately is also going well, and Sir Modred has much improved of late. Earthquake. A severe shock of earthquake was experienced at midnight at Raima, a seaport ninety miles south of this c'ty. The dwellings in the town and neighborhood were severely shaken. A Memorial. At a meeting of the Diocesan Synod to-day it was resolved that a Synod Hall should be erected as a memorial to the late Bishop Barker.
