UPPER ASHBURTON ROAD BOARD

The usual monthly meeting of the Upper Ashburton Road Board w*s held at Tinwald to-day, when Messrs McLean (Chairman), Harper, Stitt, and Sargent were present. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed.

WOKKS REPORT. The report of the Surveyor .war read and received, and the items taken in rotation. With regard to works the Clerk was instructed to prepare estimates of work necessary to main roads by next meeting.

CORRESPONDENCE. Letters were read :—From the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, enclosing accounts of receipts and expenditure of institutions under the control of Board. —Communication received with thanks. From the Chairman of the Greenstreet School Committee, asking for earth from the Board’s roads. —Granted.

prospective works. TheJßoard, acting on advice, determined to do no work whatever, in connection with Tancred and Allen’s township until the roads are formed and the creek bridged where necessary by the proprietors of the original laud.

TENDERS. The following tenders were accepted for works :—No. 3, cutting t*.Hinds, etc., 0. Sraithul—Lll 7s 6d ; No. |4, two bridges, J. Gardiner—Ll2 10s ; So. 5, Ohertaey-Mitcham, rpad formation, J. Holborough—at 4s 6d per chain ; No. 6, Thompson’s track, road formation, Geo. Sellings—at 4s Id per chain ; No. 7, Winchmoro-Lauriston, road formation, Goo. Sellings—at 4s per chain.

ACCOUNTS. Accounts were passed for payment to :he amount of L 47 11a 10d.

The Board then adjourned.
