AUCKLAND v. CANTERBURY.
The match between Auckland and Can terbury was won by the former by a goal and a try to a try. Canterbury also kicked a goal, but it touched one of the Auckland men and did not count. The local fifteen played much better than was expected. The Auckland play was disappointing, and the opinion was unanimous in Christchurch that they will be thrashed by Otago. Whiteside and O’Connor got tries for Auckland, and Arneil kicking a fine goal from the former. Archer got the try for Canterbury. The weather was fine, and the attendance about 1,800. The Auckland men passed through this morning on their way to Dunedin.
