Feioat, August 24. MISCELLANEOUS.

The Hon P. A. Buckley brought in a Bill to amend the Land Transfer Act, 1870, which was read a first time. In reply to Sir G. S. Whitmore, The Hon Mr Whitaker said the Government know nothing of the case of Angelique Therbe who had been sentenced to a month’s hard labor in Wellington, and if any representations were made in the matter to the Government they would be duly considered. The Guardian Trust and Executors Company Bill was parsed through Committee, and the Law Practitioners Act Amendment Bill, which was read a third timo.

The afternoon was spent in discussing the Taiaroa Land Bill in Committee, and ultimately it was referred to a Select Committee.

On the motion of the Hon Mr Whitaker, the Council decided to meet next day at 2.30. The Council adjourned at 5 p.m. till 7.30.

EVENING SITTING.

The Council resumed at 7.30.

The Otago Harbor Board Reconstitution Bill was again discussed in Committee, and finally reported with amendments, notice being given to re-commit it. The Maaterton and Qreytown Lands Management Act Amendment Bill was passed thiough Committee and read a third time. The Waitara Harbor Board Loan Bill was passed through Committee, the amount being reduced from LIO.OOO to L 6,000. The Licensing Act Amendment Bill and the Waimate High School Bill were read a second time. The Council rose at 10 p. m.
