. Ashburton Guardian 'Office, 'O'- Saturday afternoon.
■Messrs 'Friedlander Bros, (in conjunction With Messrs R. Wilkin and Co.) report on the live stock market for the week ending 21st August, as follows At the Ashburton Yards onTuesday, there were but few sheej»,entered either in fat or store lines, but the fat sheep sold were of extra good quality and| realised good prices. Special menUon made of the pens entered by Mr R. Millar of Winchmore. both fat wethers and ewes, lor which we topped the market at from 15s rod to 10s 8d for crossbred wethers and 9 s for merinos. We also sold a good line of hoggets at ns lod. Cattle were not yarded in any Suantity, and no good beef found its way to ie yards, in fact we may say no fat cattle were in at all. Dairy Cows—Springing went to L» each, and are in good demand at the present time, if young and of fair quality. Our clearing sale of live aqd dead stock to-day at Dundas had to be postponed for one week, to day, 31st August next, in consequence ot tne inclement weather, rendering it impossible to get the stock in from the paddocks in time.
