( Ashburton Guardian Office, “ ' ' Saturday afternoon. Messrs Friedlander Bros, (per R. Wilkin and Co., auctioneers) report on the live stock market for the week ending Tuesday, August 14th, as follows:—At the Association Yards at Tinwald there were very few entries of stock of a saleable character, and but few lots found buyers; the whole sale being dull and with unsatisfactory results to stockowners. The greater portion of the sheep yarded consisted of merino store wethers, which are not in any demand at present, but good sound mouthed ewes in lamb will find buyers at paying rates. There was only a small supply forward of fat beef and , , mutton. We Quote 17s per loolbs and upwards for former, and 2% A per lb for the lat'u 1 tef. A few pigs were sold at about late rates, but the curing season is now nearly over, and ' Vbnsiness in this line will be limited to stores ' " ; &f some time to come. We quote —Fat cross- ■ bred wethers, 13s to 16s 6d; wethers, 7s 6d to Vos 6d;' good healthy sound mouth store ewes in lamb, to 6s; and broken mouth do, 3s 6d upwards.
