[pee press association.] Terawhiti Gold. Wellington, To-day. The Golden Crown Company’s (Terawhiti) directors have cabled to Melbourne an order to complete a ten head crushing plant with all the latest improvements. Divorce. At the Divorce Court rules absolute were granted in the cases of Mulholland v. Mulholland, and Maynard v. Maynard. The case of Climo v. Climo was heard. The petition was from a wife who resides at Carterton for a dissolution of marriage on the ground of her husband’s cruelty and also adultery with one Mrs Spargo. His H onor said he was satisfied as to the adultery, but on one or two points of law he reserved his judgment. Fatal Accident. Westport, To-day. A fatal accident occurred on the West. poTt Coal Company’s incline last night. A boy named Wouldill was sent down from Denniston at 4 p. m. with a message, and not returning a search was made. His body was found by his father at midnight under the trestle work of part of the incline known as McDonald’s Hill. One leg was nearly severed from the body, and it is supposed he bled to death. The boy went up from the bottom of the incline at dark in the last truck run, which stopped at the top of the lowest trestle. It is supposed he got out and attempted to walk the remaining distance, but was caught by the truck and run over. University Degrees. Christchurch, To-day. Diplomas of University degrees were presented to-day in the old Provincial Council. Chamber to eight Bachelors of Arts, including one lady. The Chancellor and Professors Cook and Bickerton delivered lengthy addresses. DrownedIsaac Mawson, an old settler, ‘ was drowned in the river Selwyn this morning. The river was greatly swollen, but Mawson had succeeded in crossing nearly to the opposite bank when his buggy turned over and he was washed away. Fire.

Dunedin, To-day. A five-roomed house in Cargill road, owned and occupied by Metz, a plasterer, was burned down this morning. The fire was caused by the explosion of a kerosene lamp. The insurances are—Australian Alliance, L 17 5; Norwich Union and Standard, L 175. The house of Connell, adjoining, was gutted. Smuggling. Herbert Bass, a lad belonging to the Te Anau, was fined L 4 and costs for smuggling a rug and some tobacco. The Frozen Meat Trade. The Otago Meat Freezing Company’s registered capital is L 25,000. A Home Vessel. The Waimate, from London, is at the Heads. All well.
