New Zealand securities remain at last quotations, viz.;—Five per cent 10-40 Loan, 106; Five per cent. 1889 Loan Four and a half per cent 1879-1904 Loan 102, ex div.; Four per cent inscribed stock, 102. Adelaide wheat, ex store, has advanced by 6d, and to-day is quoted at 47s 6d per 4961b5. Adelaide flour remains at 335, ex store, and New Zealand wheat, ex store, is quoted at 44s to 48s per 4961 b, showing an advance ot is on the hnest qualities. The quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom has increased by 90,000 quarters during the week, and to-day returned a total of 1,520,000 quarters. Australian tallow has suffered a further decline of 6d per cwt., best beef being quoted at 39s 6d, and best mutton at 40s 6d. The best sides ot Australian leather are quoted at nd, being an advance of y 2 A per lb. 1 The Legitimist Plot. Paris, August 4.
Several of the leaders of the Legitimist party are concerned in the plot discovered by the police, and are compromised by the papers seized relating to the designs of the conspirators. Another EarthquakeNaples, August 4. Another severe shock of earthquake occurred at Ischia. The effects of the shock was most severe at Forio, the seaport on the west coast of the island, where several houses were destroyed. Anti-Jewish Demonstration. Vienna, August 4. A serious anti-Jewish agitation occurred at Pressburg, in consequence of the release of the Jews who were charged with the murder of a Christian girl, in order to use her blood in their Passover ceremonies. A large mob collected, and commenced to pillage the Jewish quarter of the town, and the authorities were compelled to call out the military to disperse the rioters. Acquitted. Vienna, August 3. The trial of the Hungarian Jews who were arrested on a charge of having killed a Christian girl in order to use her ..blood for a Passover sacrifice, was concluded to-day, all the prisoners being fully acquitted by the Court. Carey’s Assassin. Capetown, August 4. O’Donnel, who shot James Carey at Port Elizabeth, has been brought up at the Police Court, and committed for trial at the next Royal Assizes on a charge of murder, [Received August G, 12 15 p.m ] The Jews in Russia. St Petersburg, Aug. 5. Telegrams are to hand from Ekatersinoslav, a town ,in Southern Russia, reporting a serious anti-Jewish tumult there. The military were called out to quell the disturbances.
